My mom, Dorothy has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in a contained area in her acetabulum (hip bone). With this diagnosis, she should be very sick, but miraculously, it has been contained and has not spread through her body.
However, since the prognosis is so bad and there is a possibility that it could spread, it was decided on December 10th that she would have intensive chemotherapy in the hospital for three weeks. She spent Christmas and New Years in the hospital, where she was very ill. After that treatment, she had a course of radiation for 18 days on a specific area in her hip. After both treatments, her counts all went down, but they are slowly going back to normal.
This summer she is having a series of three treatments of chemotherapy in the hospital. The doctors decided to do this as a precaution. The doctors feel very hopeful that they are going to be able to beat this. If she can stay cancer-free from some time, she will be considered in remission.
She has finished all three rounds of chemotherapy and is now in the healing process. The doctors will do tests some time in September to see if the cancer has spread. Since she does not have any markers in her blood for cancer, it is very hard to tell if the cancer has resolved. All that they can do is detect when it has spread. As a result, she will continue to be tested in the future.

thoughts and prayers
do you or someone you know have a po box where cards and/or notes could be sent? (I would hesitate to post an actual address, but…)
Hi Michelle, We just wanted you to know that you and your family have been in our prayers. Esp. your mom. Love to all, Patti
Hey Michelle,
I am trying to cut and paste your button on my website but I can’t seem to get it to work. I copy what you have up there and then I am pasting it on my sidebar but nothing is showing up? Do you know what I might be doing wrong?
I’m so sorry to read this. Cancer is awful.
I’ll be praying for your Mom. Who, by the way, is beautiful and looks youthful enough to be your sister!!!
Our prayers are with you and your whole family. May you all be blessed with strength and courage in this time. I lost my mom to cancer when I was just 16 so I know what you are going through.
