So Sick On His First Birthday!

Poor little Bunky turned ONE yesterday and spent the day feeling awful with high fevers.
I took him to the doctor this morning for his one year check-up.
He has ear infections in both ears and a virus (possibly hand-food-mouth).
The pediatrician had to do bloodwork to check his iron levels, and it turns out that he is still anemic and that his white blood cell count and platelet count were both low. He is now on prescription iron medication, and I will be taking him back again at the end of the week to for the pediatrician to check him out again.
He woke up from a nap, one of many, this afternoon with a fever of 104.
After I gave him some Motrin, a vitamin-C ice pop and a cold bath, he is doing great.
He is acting like himself for the first time all day.
I hope he’ll be able to sleep well tonight and that this virus will not pass through the rest of the family.

I hope that everything balances out with temps, iron, blood cell and platelet matters. That picture is so so cute– those eyes are amazing!

But look how sweet he looks all slinged next to his mommy. Our son was very sick on his first birthday. A couple days later he was in the hospital. It’s just good thing they don’t remember their first birthday. A week before my brother turned one he lost part of his thumb in a door. See it could be worse.
But, my brother had a very nice party on his birthday even though he only had 3/4 of his left thumb.

He’s such a cutie. Happy 1st birthday…seems he’s been sick quite a lot this year. I will pray to St Panteleimon and St Nektarios for him. I am so happy that you guys are hoping to come to the Russian Fest…I look forward to seeing you guys! I pray you will all be in good health!!!

I’m hoping he’s feeling better!! So sorry, that he was sick on his birthday!! Asher just had that Hand, foot mouth thing and it was awful!! My other kids didn’t have it that bad but he got all kinds of sores in his mouth!!
