Product Review: Dole Fruit Crisp
By michelle | August 12, 2010
Winner of Shape Magazine’s Best Snack Award for 2010,
DOLE Fruit Crisp
is the newest offering in the popular DOLE Fruit Bowls product line.
DOLE Fruit Crisp combines all-natural fruit in fruit sauce with a crispy, crumbly topping made with whole grain oats and real brown sugar, which you sprinkle over the fruit when you are ready to enjoy.
Whether in the office, at home or on-the-go –
Dole Fruit Crisp is perfect for a snack or a savory dessert.
Available in three delicious flavors!
These sweet treats can be served at room temperature, chilled from the fridge or
heated briefly in the microwave.
Pros:
- An alternative when a sweet tooth craving hits, instead of eating junk food like candy and cookies.
- Available in Three Flavors: apple cinnamon, apple pear, and pineapple mango
- A portion-controlled snack. Perfect for those watching what they eat.
- Easy to open with peel-off lids.
- Convenient, portable container. Easy to eat on the go or to send with children to school.
- 40% of Vitamin C recommended daily.
Cons:
- We did not like this product cold at all. It tasted much better after we heated it.
- I prefer not to microwave anything in plastic; therefore, we transferred our DOLE Fruit Crisp to a microwave safe bowl. If a product states that it is microwave safe, the USDA has proven that this product does not leech toxins/dioxins into the food being prepared… but I still don’t take the risk.
- Flavor of the apple cinnamon wasn’t the best. Not to say it was bad, it just didn’t taste homemade at all.
- Lots of sugar…. 20g to be exact.

Yeah, it can be pot luck with some of these products. Sometimes they’re great, other times…
I used to take the Dole fruit and jello cups to work with me. I would eat baby carrot sticks, PB crackers and a jello fruit cup for dinner (I worked 12-14 hours at a hospital). I could eat with one hand and chart with the other (major plus) and I lost a lot of weight that way. I liked the lime and pineapple best.
