Alone Time & A Watercolor “Class”

By | June 15, 2010

I recently found out that our local library is having a series of art classes during the summer– for free! I signed up for a class this Friday afternoon and hired a babysitter to watch all three kids. This is the first time that I have done anything by myself since before Bunky was born!

The watercolor “class” wasn’t much of a class at all.  I didn’t learn a single thing.  I had hoped to learn watercolor technique or brush strokes or something, but I learned nothing at all.  How disappointing!

So here is my pitiful painting- I had no idea what I was doing:

I would like to take another art class sometime, but, hopefully, it will be taught by someone who knows how to teach!

what a lovely idea! I’m glad you were able to get some alone time, but too bad the class didn’t work out.

For not knowing what you were doing in the class, I think you did quite well! I can’t paint realistic flowers or petals for the life of me so good on you! (as they say)

Actually, that looks awesome. Watercolors are hard!

That is a recognizable hydrangea! You’re doing a lot better than I am…Magda is right: watercolors are HARD!

I would still continue to do the classes. It’s good for you to get out by yourself and create something. Perhaps this class was just to get over the fear of the paintbrush!

Unfortunately, that was the only watercolor class. The next one is stamping/printing, then there is a pottery one, and there are a few others, but the only one that was appealing to me was the watercolor class. Oh well! I’m just going to keep my eyes open for any other free art classes in our area.

I think that is really good! Just enjoy the class. You deserve some alone time!

I think that is a lovely picture! And what a great idea to get out for a bit of alone time. Definitely an idea worth pursuing!

My goodness, you are very artistic! I love the colors and the depth you provided, and hydrangeas are always one of my favorites.
Good job, you!

Do you have a Michael’s in your area? They’re always having art classes.

 Oh well, it’s nice to get away and relax with a paint brush.
