Our Baby Boy is VERY Sick!

By | January 4, 2010

I took Bunky to the pediatrician this afternoon. It turns out that he has a double ear infection (the right one is particularly bad) and RSV: Respiratory syncytial virus.

We’ve be instructed to keep him at home for the next 2-3 weeks until he no longer has the virus.  RSV is particularly dangerous for infants, especially those with lung problems or who were pre-mature.

Sleepy Bunkythis photo was taken last week

This little guy is miserable most of the time and has a really hard time staying asleep. I’ve hardly gotten any sleep since Friday.  He is still eating well, though, which is important because some babies with RSV end up in the hospital due to dehydration. We had to keep on eye on him, especially when it comes to his breathing and the fevers.  If his fevers get too high or if he is having trouble breathing, he’ll have to go back to the doctor and may end up being hospitalized.

Please keep him in your prayers.

So sad, and scary, to see such a little one suffer. You’re all in my prayers. May it pass very soon, so your lives can get back to normal.

Oh, that is horrible to hear. If I may, I don’t know what you do with your current sleeping situation…but I know when my little one was sick as a wee-one, I kept him with me all night. In the crook of my arm, mostly attached at the breast to ENSURE that he was nursing as well (and as often) as he could. It helps hydrate and keeps him calmer for sleep too (which of course you know). It is EXHAUSTING when our little ones are so sick. You and your son are in my humble prayers.
