Attached At The Hip & A Furry Shadow

By | October 12, 2009

One of the aspects of parenting that I have a love/hate relationship with is how my children always want to be with me, sit on my lap or follow me around.  Don’t get me wrong, I love having my children around and being a stay at home mom.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I am incredibly blessed!  But every mama needs some personal space.  Right?

Just today, all three children were sitting on my lap… at the computer… while I was typing.

SeriousSilly

The entire family can be sitting in the living room, and everyone will be with Mommy on the loveseat while Daddy stretches out on the couch.  Unless a certain video game is being played.  Then Spunky is right there with his Daddy and, a lot of the time, so is Leo.  Yes, we let our 80 pound Labradoodle sit on the couch with us.

Speaking of Leo, when the kiddos aren’t attached to my hip, Leo is the one following me around.

Have you seen the movie Return to Me?

If you have, you will remember how the dog refuses to eat until the wife comes home.  That is Leo.  Punky’s morning chore is to let out and feed the dog.  He does this very well; however, that isn’t the case for Leo.  He will not begin eating until I have entered the room.

Leo, Mommy's Shadow

Here he is: My Furry Big Shadow

I think he’s pretty cute… oh, and those kids above aren’t too bad either.

Hi Michelle! I like the new look! And I loved your article on honey- I’ve always been a HUGE believer in honey. Growing up, my mom and dad farmed bees and I used to swipe fresh honey right from the combs! :) Good stuff, I like this type of article- you’re great at finding homeopathic remedies and interesting articles. Nice work!

Well. Before you know it they will be on the way to teenagehood and seeking to totally detatch so…well… enjoy each season! Have a great week!

I SO know how you feel! I was just telling someone the other day that I can’t remember the last time I went to the bathroom without someone on my lap, or at least right next to me! :) I try to remember that someday they won’t want to be with their old mama so I try to enjoy it as much as possible but you are so right, sometimes a little break is a MUST! :)

That’s how Damaris is with me…but I can’t complain too much because Titus is DEFINITELY a Daddy’s boy, and always has been, so it is kind of nice to have a “Mommy’s girl” :)

I love the Monkey Makeover. Yes, my chidlren go everywhere with me too (toilet and shower too). I don’t mind it unless they are fighting over me and can’t share. Or if it is impossible to get an important task done. I hear ya’ girl.

These are the lovely parts of being a mother. For me, Niko calls me for everything even if daddy is right next to him. :-)
