“If She Had a Fever, I’d Call It Swine Flu”

Spunky (and Punky, somewhat) has all of the symptoms of Swine Flu minus the fever.
Our pediatrician said to call if she develops a fever. I wish I had thought to ask for the test anyway. Then we could be certain that she does indeed have Swine Flu. Instead, we are calling it “Swine Flu” to play it safe. I’ve read up on it and MedicineNet describes Swine Flu as exactly what Spunky has.
My hubby is convinced that he got Swine Flu while away on business and then brought it home to us. Both of the children (and hubby) had diarrhea over the weekend. Spunky still has it. Everyone in the house has some form of a cold; although, Spunky has it the worst by far. She was up during the night coughing uncontrollably for the past two nights.
It turns out both of the big kids have upper respiratory infections, and Spunky has Reactive Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes). I have to watch to see if Spunky gets a fever or her lymph nodes get larger or redder. If either of those happen, I will have to give the doctor a call.

I also watched a friend’s little girl the other day while she went to the doctor. Her condition was diagnosed as a severe sinus infection, but that night her fever reached 104.4. She went to the ER and was told she has the flu. Needless to say, we were all exposed to that as well.

Your poor kids!! It’s so hard to watch them be sick and there’s nothing you can do.
We have several schools around us close due to N1H1 and they aren’t even testing people for it anymore here, they are just assuming that’s what people have if they have all the symptoms. Hopefully it’s one of those things that once you get it you won’t get it again!! I hope you’re whole family is healthy SOON!

That sounds terrible! I’m so sorry, Michelle- you must be running on empty, taking care of all those sick ones! We’ll definitely keep you in our prayers!
