Nearly 34 Week Check-Up

By | July 23, 2009

We arrived home last night after midnight and woke up early this morning to go to an appointment with my midwife. Punky and Spunky had to come with me, but, fortunately, they love my midwife.  (Although, on the way there, Punky re-affirmed his hatred for Grammy’s doctors when he told me that he likes my doctor, but hates Grammy’s.  He loves his Grammy and is incredibly protective of her.)

Pregnancy and Baby #3 33-34 Week Stats:

  • BP: 116/82
  • Iron: 11.7 – still going down a little bit.  I am going to try even harder to eat things rich in iron since the iron supplements make me so sick.  Any tips?
  • Baby head down and in pelvis
  • Measuring exactly where I should be (he was measuring bigger before just because he was not in position)
  • Baby’s heart rate: 142
  • Lots of swelling in my feet and ankles
  • Braxton Hicks all the time, especially when walking a lot
  • still vomiting once in a while- it usually happens when I am really tired
  • Baby #3 is moving around A LOT

Sounds like it is going well overall. It is special how protective Punky is! My love and prayers.

Sounds like it’s right on track for the big day. My love and prayers, too.

My midwife gave me a list of iron rich foods – meat is clearly on it, but I don’t eat any so the things that I remember were blackstrap molassas, dried fruits and nuts (I loved having my midwife’s permission to eat Brazil nuts, which are my absolute favorite), and leafy greens.

there is a supplement called floradix or floravital that you can take. it’s a bit pricey but it won’t bother your stomach at all. i found mine at a local healthfood store. glad you are doing well!

iron – red meat, natural peanut butter, collard greens, kale, spinach (sautee with olive olive and minced garlic, top with shredded parmesan and broil to make the cheese melty and crisp. Since it cooks down you can down a whole bag of pre-cut spinach in one sitting without noticing. Lots of iron!)
