He wanted whipped cream, too… but I didn’t go that far.

I really stink at making pancakes. They either come out too dark or too light.  I can’t seem to get the griddle to the right temperature. My dad makes THE BEST pancakes, and I, unfortunately, have not followed in his footsteps.

Any good tips on making golden, delicious pancakes?

Cute picture! My Dad also makes great pancakes – I am not as good as of yet. However, I have learned to watch the bubbles in the pancake – when pancake is full of bubbles, it probably means that first side is done. It takes practice, but I am sure both of us can do it!! :)

They look great to me! Make sure you preheat the pan, then cook on a pretty low temp. Takes longer, but they come out nice and light this way.

bubbles means flip
thickness or thinness of batter makes a big dif too

i have the best luck when i thin out the batter. package instructions always make them way too thick. but those do look tasty! i don’t mind them being a bit dark.

I am big into the pancake making (with 3 younger brothers, I would make “fancy” snowmen and Mickey Mouse and initials all the time). My best advice is that when big bubbles start forming, carefully lift a side of the pancake to see it’s color. I’ve also noticed that sometimes the burner won’t be perfect (I live in military housing, so there isn’t much to do about it) so I will hold the pan where it’s perfect on the burner to get them even. I also pre-heat the oven to 200F with a cookie sheet and put the pancakes in there as I do them. It keeps them warm, but doesn’t cook them or dry them out.
