Punky Is Having a Rough Time!

Our poor little Punky!
This weekend our little man had fevers between 102.6 and 104.1. He had been to the doctor last Monday due to an ear infection and was put on antibiotics. Since he was already on medication, these really high fevers scared me a lot.
In the middle of the night on Saturday/Sunday, his fever went up to 103.5. In the morning, I called our pediatrician and I was able to get an appointment for Sunday afternoon (I just love my pediatrician’s office!).
The doctor diagnosed Punky with pneumonia, but before that the little guy had to have blood drawn. It was so sad to watch my little man scream while the nurses took his blood. The CBC showed that he did have an elevated white blood cell count- about 100 away from a level that would need hospitalization. Since it was a Sunday, we couldn’t have xrays done unless we went to a hospital; so the doctor gave him a shot of Rocephin, and we made an appointment for the next morning.
When we got home from the doctor’s office, Punky’s fever topped out at 104.1. Fortunately, by the end of the day, his temperature was almost normal! He slept pretty well through the night and only had a slight fever in the morning (100.1).
I took him to the doctor this morning, and Punky had his blood drawn again and had an xray done of his chest. Since I am pregnant, I couldn’t go in with him for the xray. I hated having to stand outside of the room while he was screaming. The xray showed that he does indeed have pneumonia.
Punky is now taking two very strong medications and has to go back in two weeks to have another xray to make sure he is healing. Please say a prayer for our Punky. He is doing much better today, but isn’t quite himself and has a lot of pain on the site where he was given the shot (the doctor checked it today and it is just swollen).

what a sad thing:( I work in a clinic and see lots of sick little ones. I will pray extra hard for him:)

I will be praying for little punky! I know it’s hard!! I was pregnant once when Dax had to get an xray and it was heart breaking to stand there and not be able to go in with him! Hopefully, he will be better soon!

Whoa, a lot of drama at your place the last few days! Lost your power, hospitals, x-rays… you need a rest!

You guys are going through so much right now! We’re praying for you all! Especially you darling, as the mommy holds the house together. I would have been crying if I couldn’t go in with my babies for X-rays. We love you guys!
