The Next Few Days for My Mom

By | December 11, 2008

Friday: MUGA scan of her heart at 1:30pm.  This is a nuclear medicine test to evaluate the function of the heartventricles, and allows the doctor to determine the health of the heart’s major pumping chambers. The advantages of MUGA is that it is more accurate than an echocardiogram and it is non-invasive.

Saturday: Shopping for a wig, eating guacamole (something she wanted to have before she went into the hospital), and spending some time in the hot tub.  My mom isn’t supposed to be around a lot of people before the chemo because she can’t get sick; so, she will be spening the weekend at home.

Monday: Another Biopsy to retrieve live tissue, which the doctor will be doing cytogenetics on.  Because the bloodwork is normal, they need a sample of abnormal tissue to compare at a later time see if the treatment is working. The radiologist will be going in through the scab from her surgical biopsy.

Tuesday: The Big Day- In the morning, she will have surgery to put a port into her chest, through which they will administer the chemo.  After surgery, she will be admitted for the 3-4 weeks of intensive chemotherapy.

I am continuing to pray for your mom & your whole family. How hard to have to stay away during this time, but prayerfully it will fly and you will look back rejoicing soon.

He is a great God! Praying you all can feel His hand around you, holding you close and carefully.
